If your boss does these 3 things, they have a personal problem with you

On the off chance that your supervisor does these 3 things, they have an individual issue with you In the event that your supervisor does these 3 things, they have an individual issue with you A lot of experts at all levels have left a not exactly ideal discussion with their administrators accepting that their managers must have issues with them on an individual level. She clearly despises me, your inner mind may shout after your supervisor dismisses a proposed use of PTO, neglects to request that you sign the CEO's birthday card, or places you in a tough situation during a venture meeting. Be that as it may, these apparent insults for the most part originate from a chaotic work routine, worry in your supervisor's very own life, or - in the most pessimistic scenario situations - an issue with your expert performance. But consider the possibility that you speculate that your manager only straight-up doesn't care for you. By and large, these feelings of dread can be scattered by watching your supervisor's conduct toward your partners. It is safe to say that she is commonly disposed to excuse individuals, to maintain a strategic distance from discussions about dubious work sub jects, or to evade notices of future progression for her representatives? On the off chance that that is the situation, the issue lies with her personal management style, not with any solitary abhorrence for you. In any case, if she's warm, open, and supportive with your collaborators however not with you, it's conceivable that your characters simply don't click.Below, we've recorded 3 signs that demonstrate that your manager simply isn't that into you - and what you can do about it.1. Your supervisor makes a special effort to stay away from you.Of course, a compelling director ought to endeavor to stay open and informative to all colleagues, of her own emotions about them. Furthermore, if a worker's work execution is causing issues for the group all in all, it's a director's strict obligation to address those issues and put the representative on an improvement plan. In any case, by and by, chiefs regularly find a way to dodge one-on-one discussions with the representatives whose pr esentation is okay, yet whose organization they don't especially enjoy. If you notice your manager getting lost when you swing by her office to pose an inquiry or continually deferring planned registration or surveys, it might be your supervisor not really quietly demonstrating that she'd preferably not invest any additional energy with you. Notwithstanding, you likely despite everything need to converse with your supervisor to complete your activity, so there's no compelling reason to take these practices lying down.According to profession master Alison Green of Ask a Manager, moving toward your manager with a constructive vibe and an immediate message can cut through communication snafus, regardless of whether the issues are execution based or personality-based. In the event that you need your manager's consideration detail, Green advises the accompanying approach:You could state something like this: 'I discovered it extremely supportive when we had customary week by week gathering s previously. We've quit doing them as often as possible, and when we do them, it's regularly at the week's end and we use up all available time to cover everything. I frequently run into circumstances where I need your input, and it tends to be hard to hold up insofar as we've been pausing. OK be available to meeting week after week once more, and attempting to do those gatherings at a customary time that we can both arrangement around?'You could likewise ask something like this: 'Is there a superior route for me to get tightly to you when you're occupied and I need something that shouldn't hold up until our one-on-one? Commonly I've had a go at informing or calling, however I realize you're occupied and can't generally react immediately. When something's time-touchy, what's the most ideal path for me to get tightly to you?'2. Your supervisor utilizes negative body language around you. It's anything but difficult to excuse non-verbal communication as New Age-y and insignificant, yet the manner in which you utilize your rawness to interface with others frequently talks stronger than any words can do. Managers who don't actually like you can oftentimes cover their aversion in their verbally expressed discourse and their composed interchanges, yet at times experience more difficulty policing their body's developments, signals, and positioning.Business creator and speaker Michael Kerr put it like this: Regardless of whether it's an unobtrusive eye roll, continually accepting a shut off situation with arms collapsed over their chest, or they don't gaze upward from their PC screen when you enter their office, your supervisor's non-verbal communication will frequently uncover their actual sentiments towards you.The most ideal approach to deal with negative non-verbal communication from your boss includes showing others how its done. React with positive and agreeable non-verbal communication, including direct eye to eye connection, and an open position. Maintaining a strategic distance from the desire to battle fire with fire will ponder well you and, in light of the fact that individuals occupied with discussion so regularly copy each other's non-verbal communication, you may figure out how to rouse your chief to open up her own genuineness in a jovial way.3. She doesn't show thought for your well-being.When you get out wiped out busy working, does your manager stop by your work area upon your arrival to ask how you're feeling? After you've finished a troublesome and tedious work venture, does your supervisor give you whenever to decompress before stacking you up once more? In the event that you've encountered the demise of a friend or family member and disclosed the circumstance to your chief, does she give her earnest sympathies? In the event that the response to any or these is No, you're most likely managing a character conflict among yourself and your supervisor.Dr. Amy Cooper Hakim of the executives counseling firm The Cooper Strategic Gr oup told Business Insider that [If your supervisor keeps you overburdened and never endeavors to work around your conflicts,] these are surefire signs that your manager couldn't care less about how you feel, genuinely or inwardly, and just thinks about things legitimately identified with work. It's not your manager's business to be your companion, however they should even now think about your wellbeing. If you're managing a supervisor like this, your best strategy is to persevere and advocate for yourself. On the off chance that you've been wiped out and your supervisor right away attempts to drop twelve new ventures around your work area upon your arrival, advise her immovably and unmistakably that you need time to re-adapt, yet that you can take on X number of new undertakings right away. React with your very own solid feeling limits, yet additionally propose a trade off, you'll despite everything come out resembling a cooperative person.

Tips for using a mobile device to land your next job

Tips for using a mobile device to land your next job Tips for using a mobile device to land your next job Call me old school. As a hiring decision-maker, I didnt care to receive mobile-based messages from a job seeker for several reasons. First, it comes across as the easy way out, like something they were doing while driving or watching TV. Second, there are inevitably typos, use of THX and no signature block. Finally, I wouldnt want them using that method to respond to customers or executives. However, Im slowly coming around to the future. To help me (and you) learn some of the tricks of mobile job search and recruiting, I asked a pro. Kimberley Kasper, chief marketing officer at Jobvite was kind enough to share some ideas about how job seekers can best use mobile devices to land their next jobs. Here are her top three recommendations: 1. Dont let someone else steal your dream job Picture this: youre in a meeting and you receive an alert informing you of a job opening at your dream company. In just a few taps of your smartphone, you could have filled out and submitted a job application before other candidates vying for the same career change even check their laptops. While I cant condone job searching while at work, you can see how being able to job hunt at all times means edging out the competition. With so many qualified workers searching for jobs, an always-on mindset is critical to edging out the next competitive candidate. The benefits of using mobile in your job search are obvious: anytime, anywhere, you can stay plugged in to your job hunt, beating out those who are loyal to their laptops. But having your smartphone handy isnt enough to have a competitive edge in your job search. You must be savvy with your job-search tactics. Without the ability to quickly upload and submit a résumé or cover letter, theres no way you can get there first. Store a variety of résumés and documents in a Dropbox app or Google drive on your mobile phone for easy access, so you can apply quickly and easily to similar roles that have different titles. In that same vein, keep your LinkedIn profile as current as possible with information on who you are, why youre a fit, and what youve delivered in the past. In the end, youre applying to jobs on mobile because it is easy and efficient, so make sure your strategy facilitates that. If youre not prepared, your colleagues on their mobile phones will assuredly beat you to it. 2. You can judge a book by its cover Its no secret that were spending more and more hours at work these days. In fact, the average American workday is significantly longer than the traditional eight hours were used to, and were only expecting work commitments to increase. As a result, recruiters are hiring even more for culture fit â€" if were going to be spending more time and energy at work, it better be with people who have the same priorities, right? As a job seeker, a work environment that aligns with your priorities is essential to a harmonious match. But how can you know what a company is like from the outside? While some questions will need to be answered by an interviewer, take a look at their career site for some insight into the companys commitment to innovation. If the company has a mobile-oriented career site, they are on the leading edge of technology. Spend time going through other pages on their website to learn how innovative they really are. 3. Are you grabbing recruiters attention? In this always-on job market, job seekers arent the only ones constantly on the hunt. With such a scarcity in high-quality, qualified people, finding the right candidate is like searching for a needle in a haystack. So when great candidates come along, recruiters are ready to pounce. When getting hundreds of responses to a specific post, the first 20 résumés might grab attention. If youre not quick, however, yours runs the risk of becoming white noise. After all, most recruiters spend an average of six seconds on your résumé, so finding a way to stand out has never been more necessary. This is exactly where mobile comes in. If getting your résumé in front of a recruiters eyes quickly is the key to nabbing the perfect job, mobile facilitates that tenfold. Many of us already spend over two and a half hours per day on our mobile devices, so if you find yourself checking Facebook mobile or playing Candy Crush, change your routine and be proactive. Be the first one to apply for a job â€" right when the requisition appears â€" by checking mobile career sites, signing up for alerts, and staying on top of your application status. Also, try applying mid-afternoon, since emails tend to pile up overnight. To get a recruiter to spend some serious time on your application, go for the 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. window. Note of caution I learned a lot from Kimberleys suggestions and will certainly be more open about the future of mobile recruiting. However, candidates, be sure not to swing your pendulum too far. Dont just spray your résumé around. And I strongly recommend a tailored cover letter as Page 1 of your résumé, which may be a challenge to do on your mobile device. Be professional and thoughtful about which device you use for each aspect of your job search. Dont rush to push something unprofessional out on your mobile device when you can shine brighter from your laptop or desktop!

Do You Need A Resume Or A CV -

Do You Need A Resume Or A CV - Somebody as of late requested that I clarify the contrast between a resume and an educational plan vitae, or CV. While these records are to a great extent comparative, they utilize various configurations to introduce a competitor's work history since they're proposed for various crowds. In the quick paced proficient world, recruiting directors normally aren't keen on more than your last ten to fifteen years of work history. They're doing whatever it takes not to be jerksâ€"it's simply that most vocations progress so that what you were completing fifteen years prior doesn't have a lot of significance to what you do today. Additionally, you may have late experience that is simply not relevant to your application for a particular position today. On a resume, you need to overlook whatever doesn't fortify your case as a possibility for one explicit occupation. CVs are ordinarily utilized in fields where your work history by and large will matter for the remainder of your life. The most notable case of this is the field of academia. If you're an educator, the examination you distributed seventeen years back about your field of ability may at present be referenced in further scholarly investigations today. Likewise, a productive writer would incorporate his whole group of work, regardless of whether he started composing thirty years prior. Regularly, another distinction between a resume and a CV is the manner by which the reports are delivered. Resumes are much of the time intended to be transferred into online application frameworks where they are then looked for keywords. Industries that lean toward CVs are commonly increasingly concentrated businesses that may permit you to email it straightforwardly to the recruiting supervisor. In the event that you've been working in a field where CVs are the standard, you'll presumably need to alter out some material while going after a position that requires a resume. Conversely, a position mentioning a CV is searching for more nitty gritty data than is standard for most resumes. Be certain you're clear about what kind of data an organization is looking for.

Leveraging your letters of recommendation in a job search

Leveraging your letters of recommendation in a job search Letters of recommendation and other types of testimonials such as performance reviews are a great strategy for reinforcing your value proposition and of course, your personal brand. One of the ways you can put these letters to good use is to add some snippets from each letter to your resume. Why does this help? Well, a resume is written to tell your own story, presumably from YOUR point of view. While you can tell others about what you offer (along with quantifiable results), using accolades allows you to add proof of these results from other sources. This tactic is most effective when your sources point to specific achievements and indicate the value of your work in the context of the challenges you faced. Some job hunters approach their networks for reference letters, which can be a great strategy if done correctly. You see, some reference letter writers quickly nail your value proposition in just a sentence or two, but others sometimes write a full letter that doesn’t provide much value. So, to get the best return on your efforts, provide your network with specific information on your job search goals and the precise message you’re trying to convey with your resume. Then, let them describe the reasons they’d want to work with you again, in addition to the qualities that have made you successful at this juncture in your career. You’ll end up with a valuable message that underscores what you want prospective employers to know.

Building ASMEs Foundation for the Future Part Three

Building ASME's Foundation for the Future Part Three Building ASME's Foundation for the Future Part Three Building ASME's Foundation for the Future: Part Three July 14, 2017 Keith Roe, ASME Immediate Past President To the ASME Community: Welcome by and by! Permit me to get back on track last time in this third article of the arrangement Im anxious to keep sharing the account of this current year just as where Im satisfied to state were going. As referenced already, the collaboration to execute the new Enterprise Strategy embraced by ASMEs Governors a year ago is tied in with Building ASMEs Foundation for the Future. We are attempting to set up the pieces which together will make for a front line Society for the 21st century. As we finish and initiate execution of the recently evolved Integrated Operating Plan, which depends on the 10-3-1 (10 year3 year1 year) objectives supporting our innovation based procedure, we realized it was crucial to coordinate our electorates into the procedure. To get that going, five Presidential Task Forces have worked unflaggingly in financial year 2016-17 to survey the work ASME does in the interest of designers in five basic zones: Industry Leadership Engagement; Strategy Planning; Student Early Career; Group Engagement/Alignment; and Building a High-Performing Board. Theyve looked both at how we do it and how we can improve. These groups have broke down ASMEs qualities and challenges and, with the monetary year currently as of late finished up, have been introducing their top suggestions for how ASME can bring its game up in every one of these zones as we execute the methodology and fabricate our extended ability in every one of the five need innovation territories. Im ea ger to share each Task Forces suggestions, which will shape the premise of our course of action for the following part of the ASME story. Division Management Committee (SMC) Group Engagement/Alignment The SMC Group Engagement/Alignment Task Force (led by Rick Marboe) was shaped with the understanding that each partner at ASME ought to be connected proficiently and successfully with all assets ASME brings to the table, including emotionally supportive networks, access to assets, administration openings, and backing for their profession way. In ongoing introductions to the BOG, the Group Engagement/Alignment Task Force contended that the most ideal approaches to cause these increasingly open will to be: To make a gathering commitment association to create rules of commitment with Sectors and the Committee on Finance and Investment (COFI)to manage preparing of gatherings for arrangement with ASME crucial methodology; To organize new Group Leader preparing along the lines of the past Leadership Training Conference (LTC) and Volunteer Orientation Leadership Training (VOLT) to help pioneers comprehension of technique, to impart jobs and obligations, and to make a typical jargon for new business advancement; To make and send electronic or online instruments for members to self-track their inclinations, with normal updates staged in after some time; To make an item and additionally program advancement store to seed improvement of new occasions, with a renewal instrument and least equalization constrained by the Board of Governors. Industry Engagement The Industry Leadership Engagement Task Force (led by Stacey Swisher Harnetty) tended to an expansive scope of territories basic to ASMEs future achievement and fundamental to drawing in industry administration in ASMEs future: how to help and advance the five center innovations; item and norms improvement and preparing materials; ideal help for open occasions and gatherings; assurance of open arrangement needs; streamlining of work with the scholarly world; and how to manufacture and enhance roads of commitment for industry pioneers far and wide. Out of this universe of significant work, the ILE Task Force accepts that the most noteworthy need things must be: To reinforce familiarity with ASME and its work among worldwide pioneers in designing by making more industry-confronting grants to perceive industry pioneers and driving organizations; To grow our administration pipeline all around and fortify the ASME group by framing local or global Industry Advisory Boards (IABs) where we decide advertise opportunity is most noteworthy and by focusing on arrangement and expanded movement for explicit nearby segments to those territories. Understudy Early Career Engagement The Student Early Career Engagement Task Force (led by ASME Past President Terry Shoup) took on the issues that are integral to our future: how might we tackle the vitality and soul of our Student and Early Career Engineers by making and giving rich chances to have any kind of effect for the world, to coordinate with partners, and to discover coaches and direction for the way. With a sum of more than 30 proposals, Terrys group has offered three top suggestions which will be the principal we actualize: To try harder to comprehend the issues that are generally essential to our most youthful individuals; To look for expanded info and input on hierarchical administration choices; To initiate adaptable enrollment levy and contribution motivators to improve and expand our commitment of architects in the beginning periods of vocation building. System Planning The Strategy Planning Task Force (led by John Goossen) has driven the manner in which this year in figuring out what will be required in a proceeding with path so as to execute the vision as enunciated in ASMEs new procedure. For an association like ASME, ordinary administration turnover is a noteworthy test to vital congruity. The SP Task Force has proposed three expectations which I think will go far toward getting us there: The making of a yearly procedure for keeping up, refreshing and conveying ASMEs key arrangement to the more extensive ASME people group; Establishing a practical substance to draw in the board, staff, and volunteers on system advancement, checking and execution; and Making a system or procedure by which the BOG can intently screen ASMEs present moment and long haul progress towards every one of its key objectives. Elite Board of Governors Last yet unquestionably not least, the Task Force for Fostering a High-Performing Board of Governors assumed the re-designing of what is seemingly the focal driver of all Society work. It is my own view that no association like our own can accomplish enormity without an administering body that works at world-class levels. On the off chance that we need to play at those levels rivaling other worldwide associations that work in our space, we just need to begin with a high-performing Board of Governors. This gathering, led by Bill Wepfer, explained a lot of six suggestions which, taken together, will contribute emphatically to taking our Boards working to that place: Improve speed, productivity and clearness for all in-person Board gatherings; Complete the full explanation of all Board jobs and duties; Improve the productivity and adequacy of the Board of Governors (BOG) and its councils tasks and procedures; Survey and upgrade BOG preparing for all present and approaching individuals, to improve singular individuals viability; Audit and improve the Board designating process in order to assess and enlist the most grounded conceivable Board up-and-comers outfitted with essential abilities, experience, and profundity and point of view. Overall Goal: Unparalleled Opportunity in a Cutting-Edge Engineering Society The stupendous test of the entirety of this years work has been to protect the essence of ASME while building the establishment for the eventual fate of ASME: reinforcing our innovation base in crucial advancements, creating new and upgraded programs, assembling our IT and other supporting framework, and lifting the quality and viability of our Board of Governors. One may state that we are attempting to fabricate an overwhelming crossover: we try to make a noteworthy and fruitful expert systems administration learning Society much progressively effective by helping it become, simultaneously, a dexterous, high-performing, innovation driven, client arranged association propelled and guided by a notable strategic. As this transformative year in the life of our association enters its next stage, I accept we are well on our way. The technique/innovation work, the improvement of the 10-3-1 Integrated Operating Plan, and the Task Forces have given a special stage this year to set us making progress toward progress towards our vital goal to turn into the go-to association to address key innovation challenges in the open intrigue. The new administration is set up and pushing ahead under President Charla Wise and our new Board of Governors. However, to make it genuine, were going to require you. By what method will you be a piece of ASMEs splendid future? I trust youll be roused to get included and have any kind of effect. Much obliged to you again for the respect of serving you this previous year as your President. With all my all the best Keith Roe, ASME Immediate Past President Peruse Part One and Part Two of Roes arrangement on Building ASMEs Foundation for the Future.

Solicit Honest Feedback and Improve Customer Satisfaction

Request Honest Feedback and Improve Customer Satisfaction Request Honest Feedback and Improve Customer Satisfaction Request Honest Feedback and Improve Customer Satisfaction .D. Dave Power III, author of J.D. Force and Associates, and subject of POWER: How J.D. Force III Became the Auto Industry's Adviser, Confessor, and Eyewitness to History (2013: Fenwick Publishing Group) Since establishing J.D. Force and Associates in 1968, I've had the chance to work with scores of organizations over all enterprises. Despite the item or administration they offer, I could see that their prosperity was inseparably attached to their capacity to tune in to clients and afterward make upgrades to accomplish consumer loyalty. How Customer Feedback Raised the Bar It was in some cases hard to persuade chiefs that a free study of their clients was valuable. Particularly in enormous, dug in associations, a few people were simply too put resources into business as usual to be keen on change - regardless of whether it implied an improved main concern. Regularly, I would need to go to the top authority so as to discover the will and fortitude to sparkle a light on what the client was thinking. We would utilize a scope of techniques to acquire an unvarnished comprehension of what our customers' clients were thinking. Because of our discoveries - and the difficult work of the organizations who took that input and made noteworthy upgrades - administration and item quality over all businesses has taken off throughout the decades. These enhancements have, be that as it may, increased current standards of client desires, making it important to keep on keeping close tabs on client suppositions so as to remain serious. Assemble Customer Feedback on a Tight spending plan For private companies on a tight spending plan, it isn't important to draw in a statistical surveying administrations organization like J.D. Capacity to lead client overviews. You can take the standards behind the work we've done and apply them to your own activity in a manner customized to your requirements. Here are my best five suggestions for accomplishing consumer loyalty through tuning in to the voice of the client: 1. Something is superior to nothing For whatever length of time that you are finding a way to draw in client conclusion, you can begin little and keep it straightforward. Simply getting some information about their involvement in real intrigue and concern is significant. Think about calling clients for criticism, or sending a short email review a couple of days after help was given. There are currently low-and no-cost on-line study administrations like Survey Monkey and Zoomerang that are perfect for independent companies. Whatever your methods for correspondence, ensure that the solicitation for support originates from you as the proprietor or administrator with a genuine intrigue for fair sentiments: it will probably inspire increasingly astute reactions and it will exhibit how significant consumer loyalty is to you. 2. Set a procedure Make it a point to gather input from your clients at standard interims as opposed to inconsistently or without clear aim. We found that deliberately and legitimately approaching clients for input gave the most solid, significant reactions. Make it a procedure to painstakingly take a gander at the data when you get it back. What kind of patterns do you see? Do any new plans to improve things for your clients spring up? Any evident issues? By making this an earnest routine procedure you are bound to offer concentration to what you have to do to improve your consumer loyalty. 3. Dont be reluctant to hear the tirades Obviously, nobody likes to confront analysis! As an entrepreneur you pour your time, vitality, heart, and cash into your business and discovering that clients don't care for all that you do can be hard to hear. It's significant, however, to separate from thinking about basic input literally and rather take a mentality of interest and transparency. Situating client input for yourself and your representatives as a chance to realize what's functioning admirably just as what's not is regularly useful. Empower a feeling of critical thinking by disposing of the dread of being censured: arrangements and ability to improve are the thing you're pursuing. 4. Listen to representatives Representatives are not just your best colleagues for distinguishing techniques for tending to client concerns; they're additionally frequently another asset for realizing what the client is thinking. Ask client confronting representatives to report any input they get in passing. Be responsive to hearing their requested and unconstrained input for how the business is run - however shield it from turning into an issue meeting by concentrating on arrangements and discovering ways for them to take responsibility for arrangement. 5. Focus on quality Embrace the standard of nonstop improvement and never quiet yourself into the idea that you've tended to all worries. Take a gander at client input with an eye for focusing on where you can keep on making changes to improve the nature of your item or administration. That is the best way to remain serious also educated, observing clients practice their decisions. You know it's a serious world and you should make sense of what must be done each day to continue showing signs of improvement. Creator Bio: Dave Power is the subject of POWER: How J.D. Why A Facebook Page Is A Must For Job Seekers

Why A Facebook Page Is A Must For Job Seekers 131 And how to use a Facebook page to enhance your job search. This is a guest post by Danielle McGaw. If you’d also like to guest post here on JobMob, follow these guest post guidelines. Social networks can be a great asset to anyone that is looking for a job or knows that they might be looking for a job in the future (and let’s face it â€" that is most of us!). The fact of the matter is that the number of people that will be looking for a job in the next five years is increasing. So, even if you have a job today, you need to be aware that next week, next month, or next year, you might not and you need to prepare yourself for it now.eval One of the ways you can do this is by creating a professional Facebook page to brand yourself as a professional in your field and make people aware of your skills. This is not the same as your personal profile where you show off pictures from your latest trip or share funny pictures with your friends. This is purely focused on your professional image.eval Why should you have a professional Facebook page? One very good reason to have a Facebook page for professional branding is because Facebook pages are indexed by search engines and they tend to show up very well. If you name your Facebook page with your real name and your field of work you can easily get indexed by search engines. If you want to be found by employers in a specific area, include the name of your city in the title. For example, if you are a software developer in Winnipeg, Canada you could name your Facebook page Bob Smythe, Winnipeg Software Developer. Or if you are willing to work anywhere in your country, you can substitute the name of your city for the name of your country. Your Facebook page is like an ongoing resume. You can share information about your skills. Share concrete examples. And the best part is that your Facebook page encourages interaction so people can ask you questions or share testimonials. It’s the ultimate interactive resume. What should you share on your professional Facebook page? The variety of things you can share is endless. The most important thing to remember is that everything you put on your Facebook page should have value. You don’t need to share personal information. Share things that will convince a potential employer that you are the person they want on their team. Here are a few things you might want to share: Anything visual â€" it could be a picture of your volunteering or at a networking event or a testimonial from someone you have worked for that you’ve turned into a graphic quote Blog posts, if you have your own blog If you don’t have your own blog, write a “mini-blog post” in the status. Articles you are reading online that are relevant to your job field â€" and don’t forget to share your own thoughts in the status above the link! Record a YouTube video and share it Interact with other pages as your page No, I don’t mean with your profile page â€" I mean with your Facebook page! You can use your Facebook page almost the same way that you use your profile page with a newsfeed and everything! It is very cool and a great way to get more exposure. First, you need to go to your Facebook page and “use Facebook as your page” (by default you’re using it as your profile). This is what you need to do: Click on Edit Page at the top of your admin dashboard (you’ll see this above the cover when you go to your page). At the bottom of the drop down menu you will see “Use Facebook as ____” (see an example here on the right). Click on that. Now you are using Facebook as your page instead of your profile. You can find pages for businesses and organizations in your field of work and like them. When you click on the Facebook logo on the top left of the page you’ll get your page’s newsfeed. You’ll see updates from all of the pages that you have liked. If you like a status or comment on a status, it will show your Facebook Page profile picture and link to your page, not your profile. You can also share content from other pages directly to your own page. It is really very easy and it will help you get exposure to your Facebook page. People can contact you through your Facebook page Facebook pages recently changed over to the new Timeline and one of the advantages of this is that you can be contacted through your page instead of through your profile. This is a great feature because employers or others that are interested in what you are doing will be able to easily get in touch with you. There is a message button right under the cover photo so encourage people to use that. There are many advantages to using a Facebook page to enhance your job search. Businesses use them to their advantage so why shouldn’t you? You are in the business of promoting yourself and social media is a great tool for interaction and exposure. Were Not Looking For Anyone Right Now, But

We’re Not Looking For Anyone Right Now, But… A guest post from LiveCareer You’ve been on the job market for a while now, and you’re starting to wonder if your only options lie in published postings for established positions. What if you really want a job that isn’t available? Or a job that doesn’t technically exist? What if you find yourself attracted to a certain organization, but the company website has no specific “careers” listing? What if a company has no positions to offer right now, but makes a claim like “We’re always looking for great people”? Here are the two most common scenarios job seekers face when they decide to step outside the realm of published positions and job boards. If you find yourself dealing with either of these, you’ll need to choose a bold approach that matches both your goals and your target audience. 1.  You love the company. You’ve made up your mind, and regardless of the availability of open positions, you’re determined to pursue a dream jobâ€"or any jobâ€"with Google. Or the American Heart Association. Or the Atlanta Zoo. There’s only one problem: they aren’t looking for anyone right now. And they haven’t exactly expressed public interest in someone with your specific skill sets. To work around this, start by keeping a level head and reasonable expectations. You can’t arm-twist or stalk any company or manager into hiring you, but it’s certainly within bounds to reach out to the firm and let them know how you feel and what you can do. Go online and find a specific person in the department that interests you. Then send a well worded, respectful and convincing email to this person attached to a resume. Tailor both the resume and the letter to the exact company you’re interested in working for. Most importantly, be very clear about what you’d like the manager to do next. She may or may not be interested, and she may or may not follow through (don’t wait by the phone for an answer) but it won’t cost anything to ask. 2.  You know the position you want, but it isn’t available. You’d like to be a mobile app developer for a start up you’ve just heard about. Or you’d like to sign on as junior editor for the local news station. Or maybe you’d like to be a personal trainer, an accounts manager, an in-house designer, or an educational activities coordinator for a little company you admire called “Any Company At All”. But these positions are few and far between, and when they open up, they tend to be staffed quickly. To solve this problem, gather a list of every relevant employer in your geographic area. (If you’re a museum curator, this means every museum.) Then go online to find contact information for relevant department heads and send a polished application package to each one. If you can’t identify specific department managers, just send your package to HR. Again, be very clear about what you’d like the recipient of you letter to do. (Call you on the phone to discuss your credentials further? File your resume and contact you if a position becomes available? Allow you to come into the office during a one-hour period next week and present your case in person?) After you’ve sent your messages, be ready to follow up with each company several times. Keep a running tab of which employers you’ve contacted, the number of times and the outcome of each follow-up call or email. Creating your own job takes a little courage. It also takes a willingness to invest some time and resources in a strategy that may or may not pay off. But if published positions aren’t getting you where you need to go, it may be time to take control of your own destiny… What’s the worst that can happen? How to Create Employee Harmony in the Office

How to Create Employee Harmony in the Office If your office is like most, then you will know that it can become a microcosm of humanity. You have people from all walks of life, culture, personality, and you also have their individual goals and needs. It is these differences that can make your office a great place to work, but also a nightmare. If you want to get the best from your employees, you need to work on your office harmony so that everyone is getting along most of the time. Heres how to encourage harmony in the office. Remember to Say ‘Please’ and ‘Thank You’ It might sound obvious, but by remembering those few words, you can dramatically improve the mood of your workers and the harmony of the office. It can be common for managers to be less than polite, especially if they are lacking the correct skills for management. Start by leading by example and saying ‘please’ and ‘thank you’ to your managers and staff. You can then impart the importance of it to your managers to help them improve relations with your workers. Your staff needs to understand that politeness is not something that can be ignored, especially in an office environment. Be Aware of the Little Things If your workers are happy in their jobs, you will notice little things that can make an office work better. For example, they might offer to work late to finish a project or take time to correct a document that has an error. If, however, you notice the opposite, such as failing to finish work on time or a drop in someone’s quality, then this can indicate an issue. Trying to find out and help with these problems will make them feel valued and also help to keep harmony in your office. Get the Basics Right Most workers are worried about only a few things in their job: is it secure, will they get paid on time, and are they allowed to take their leave? If you can get these basics right, you are on your way to creating a happy office. Ensure that payments for salary are made on time and that they are correct. You can use a check stub maker to help you and set deadlines in place to ensure its complete. Be honest and open with your staff and tell them of any developments in the company. Secrets and gossip are far more damaging to morale than any news about the company. Keep Your Door Open Workers often find it difficult to speak to certain people or find that they don’t have the opportunity. Even as a business owner, make it known that your door is open to anyone in your office and that you will listen to what they have to say. It can be especially important if a worker is having issues with a manager as they might not know where else to go for help. By doing some or all of these things, you can create a safe and understanding environment in your office that will go a long way to creating harmony.
